Our philanthropic gift cards enable kids to make a mark in the world... their way... Using our gift cards, kids can shop at the markmakers store for goods and services in need around the world. They can choose from more than 40 items including vaccines, medicine, eye care, or saving rain forests & coral reefs. They can spread their funds among many items or spend them in one place. The choice is theirs ..markmakers helps create a dialogue between a gift giver and a young person about making a difference in the world... When you purchase a markmakers card, you will be prompted to write some personal thoughts to the young recipient that will automatically accompany the card.

When the recipient has distributed the funds on the card you will automatically be notified, and in that notification, we prompt the young person to write a personal note back to you, perhaps with a comment about the experience.

The notification includes a summary of the distribution choices made by the young person. Hopefully, the choices made will provide an opportunity for an engaging dialogue...

There are six shops at markmakers offering goods and services provided by a variety of non-profit organizations:

The name of the organization providing the relevant goods or services is indicated in each product description. The mix of organizations is designed to appeal to the range of interests and concerns on the minds of young people today.

About markmakers:

• Our mission is to encourage young people to take an interest in the issues of the world and make a mark. When a parent gives a young person a markmakers card, that young person is empowered to make a difference. The choice of where, and how, is theirs.
• 100% of the amount placed on a markmakers card will be passed on to the organizations providing the goods and services provided. Our grants to these organizations (based on the allocation choices made by the young people who "shop" here) are made monthly. We deduct nothing.
• The total amount placed on a markmakers card is tax deductible. Your card purchase is a contribution to the markmakers Foundation, an IRS approved 501c3 organization.
• you will be charged a 7% service fee at the time of payment. This fee is also tax deductible and helps defray, in part, the cost of operating of our website. Contributions from individuals cover the balance of our operating expenses.
• Giving thru markmakers is anonymous and secure. Neither the card giver's name nor the recipient's name will be passed on to any organization, including those to which contributions are made. All purchases are secure and private.
• The minimum amount that can be placed on a markmakers card is $10. Cards may only be purchased at this website using American Express, Visa, MasterCard or Discover. Refunds are not available.
• We are an independent organization, unaffiliated with any political party, governmental, non-governmental or religious organization.
